Kokkari Estiatorio is the quintessential upscale meets grandma’s kitchen Mediterranean restaurant. This white-table cloth dinner spot has notably excellent service, and an elevated feel, but places diners around a (sometimes lit) fireplace decorated with clay pots. They have large windows they’ll leave open on light days, and passing by on my way home from work, I always thought the warm murmur of chatter by the windows seemed so inviting.
This restaurant serves traditional Mediterranean food prepared incredibly well. They offer a your expected Greek favorite meze-style shareables, as well as some additional bigger-format options. Your best bet approaching this menu is splitting a lot of the small to medium sized items. We ordered several spreads, as well as more interesting items like the grilled octopus and pan fried cheese. I remember Kokkari Estiatorio for being simple, exceptionally well executed Mediterranean dishes. I wouldn’t expect unique dishes or interesting twists out of their menu, but I would expect consistently excellent Mediterranean staples.
