Being a culturally diverse area, Washington DC is full of great eats. The area is full of unqiue cuisines outside the more traditional eats you’ll see anywhere, and many restauranteurs have found ways to creatively craft fusion menus. Whether looking to get experimental with dinner options or just craving a good bowl of pasta, the DC food scene’s got it all.
Here’s my top ten:
Chloe is a very intimate dinner spot that serves a wide range of cuisines both in stand-alone dishes and flavor combinations. They are a great spot to share a selection of plates with family.
Compass Rose offers a popular dish from each of a handful of countries, making it a unique experience trying so many different cuisines in one meal.
Supra is a Georgian restaurant, so its menu has a lot of unique items. All of their bread items are fluffy and delicious, particularly their “Georgian Cheese Boat.”
Jaleo is a reliable dinner spot that is perfect for dinner with friends or happy hour. Their food is consistently excellent, and is more elevated than your traditional Spanish tapas experience, but maintains the same fun environment.
China Chilcano’s menu, being Asian-Peruvian fusion, is very unique and marries the two cuisines perfectly. They combine flavors perfectly and have great cocktails to go with.
Il Canale serves Neapolitan pizza in a lively Georgetown spot perfect for dinner and drinks after work. Their crust is extremely fluffy- as it should be.
San Lorenzo is well-executed upscale Italian in a cozy and inviting restaurant. They offer a tasting menu that highlights all their best dishes.
Zaytinya makes traditional Mediterranean food unique with their spices and unique flavor pairings. Their small plate format allows you to try a little
Rasika has rock-solid Indian food bursting with flavor. They think through spices and texture incredibly well in every dish.
