Where to Take Mom to celebrate Momma's Day

Mother’s Day is around the corner, and she deserves a special day! Whether she likes brunch and a mimosas (or three) or prefers a shared experience, DC has tons of great places to offer. Check out this list for my 6 Mother’s Day recs based on which ‘persona’ Mom is to you:

For the brunch & mimosa Mom

Ada’s is a happening place for weekend brunch. Situated on the water in Old Town, Alexandria- this spot has a fun and lively vibe, and top-notch wood fired food. They offer interesting brunch items like a steak and cheese omelette, as well as a ‘create your own mimosa’ concept, and three different types of Bloody Maries.

For the Wine Mom

60 Vines is the wine lover’s place to be! They have 60 different types of wine on tap, and their knowledgeable servers will help you make a custom flight based on your preferences (or just grab a glass!). The restaurant is energetic and lively, serving Italian and American dishes, and is the perfect shared experience for the wine mom in your life.

For the Mom who wants pastries at home

Being a Mediterranean cafe, Yellow has some of the most interesting pastries in the area. From Lebneh-stuffed za’atar croissants to twice-baked Baklava croissants, their pastries are unique and delicious. This place is CROWDED, so not the spot to sit down with Mom, but definitely the move for bringing pastries home and surprising her with breakfast in bed.

For the Foodie Mom

Maydan is the type of dinner spot you sit for a few hours and really enjoy the atmosphere, food, and company. The meal is intended to be enjoyed family-style (fitting!), and has very unique Mediterranean flavoring throughout each of their generously portioned dishes. This cozy spot should be on every foodie’s bucket list, so treat mom to a buzz-worthy, unique dinner spot.

For the Italian Mom

Mom deserves a nice meal. Whether Mom’s Italian at heart, or Italian in food preferences, she’ll love a fancy, memorable meal at one of the best Italian spots in the city. Pro tip: order the tiramisu flambe to make the experience extra memorable!

For the Classy Mom

If Mom likes something a little bit more elevated, think about bringing her to afternoon tea at Lady Camelia in Old Town, Alexandria. This tea house is modern-meets-antique-England, and has a beautiful interior with a view of the water. It’s the perfect experience that’s a little different than your normal brunch.
