Crockpot lava brownie

This might be the best ratio ever in terms of effort to decadency. This recipe uses box mix brownies and pudding, but the outcome is anything but you're typical box mix bake. You've probably seen variations of this crockpot lava brownie everywhere- here's Taylor's version ;)

Ingredients

  • 1 box betty crocker traditional brownie mix
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbs water
  • 3.4 oz chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups milk
  • chocolate chips measure with your heart!

Instructions

  • Grease your crockpot really well with olive oil or butter.
  • Mix brownie batter according to package directions (eggs, water, vegetable oil).
  • In a separate bowl, mix together pudding mix and milk. Let thicken for a couple minutes.
  • Pour about ⅔ of the brownie mix into your crockpot, reserving the rest to top. Sprinkle some chocolate chips on top. (Note: I originally layered brownies completely on the bottom and pudding on the top, but found that the pudding did not incorporate into the brownies as much as I had hoped)
  • Layer the pudding in top of the brownies, spreading out as much as possible. Top with the remaining brownie batter, trying to spread out as much as possible. Top with more chocolate chips.
  • Rest a paper towel on top of the crockpot bowl before putting the lid on- this is to catch the condensation from dripping onto the brownies. Cook on high for around 2.5 hours (I cooked for 3 and found the bottom of the brownies to be drying out slightly.
